“I once had a client say to me, ‘You have given me my life back.” Hearing things like that makes it worth the 345am starts and the late nights. There is nothing that makes me prouder than knowing I have helped someone not only achieve their health and fitness goals, but smash them.”

Mitchell has been a highly sought after personal trainer and leader in the fitness industry for the past seven years, and has run his own boutique studio, Real Fitness Training, for the past three. Mitchell is passionate about encouraging movement and transforming not just the body, but the mind.

His highly supportive, informed and personalised coaching style has ensured that many of his clients have trained with him for years. Is it any wonder? His above-and beyond approach to service once saw him drive from the Hills in Sydney to Batemans Bay to watch a client compete an Olympic distance triathlon, then head back to ride the Tour De Hills cycling event with another client, before concluding his day by helping a third client move house!

When not training clients (or cheering them on as they achieve their own fitness goals), Mitch enjoys spending time with his partner in work and in life, Vicky, and playing with his puppy Charlie.

A message from Mitch:

One thing has really resonated with me over the last few years, and that is everyone is in a constant search for happiness. As a society we constantly look to external things to try and cure our blues. That’s when an idea occurred to me; what if I could create a place for people to find their most authentic self and discover what truly makes them happy? To achieve this, I knew we needed to stop putting everyone in the same category. Every journey is different; one approach for one particular individual may not be the right approach for another. I knew it was time to put the personal back into personal training.

That’s where the idea for Real Fitness Training occurred to myself and Vicky. I wanted to create a facility where people felt like they belonged, a place that was unique and awe inspiring. A facility where like-minded people are on the same soul-searching journey to find their most authentic, happy and whole self.

The end product – Real Fitness Studio – blows me away. What we have created is truly remarkable. It is a place free from judgment, it has a friendly, family feel where everyone knows everyone. Here at Real Fitness you are not a number, you are a person. We take your goals seriously because your results are our results.

We have also created a unique training system that is based around balance. Balancing your training, your nutrition and your lifestyle. With our program we have seen some huge transformations, not just physically but also on a more emotional and spiritual level.

Real Fitness Training is next level, and I can’t wait to welcome you to our family.

Most people miss Balance in their daily lives. I’m proud to be able to help restore that Balance with a personal touch!

Vicky Van De LuechtCo-founder

“In the past I worked and trained in big commercial gyms and I really noticed how much the personal touch was missing in these; I never felt members there truly felt at home. What I love about our space is that it nurtures the whole person and feels like a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My clients tell me that joining us at RFT hasn’t only changed their bodies, but their mindset and, in turn, their lives. That’s so much more rewarding to hear than the fact they may also have dropped a dress size!”

Vicky is a human dynamo and thought leader in the fitness industry. Her nurturing and contagiously enthusiastic personality, combined with her expertise and passion for strength training, yoga and nutrition, have resulted in her having an almost cult- like following with members.

Passionate about education both in the one-on-one coaching dynamic, and as a facilitator of group seminars on topics as diverse as how to read food labels to how to find balance in our lives, Vicky is a natural born communicator and skilled, dynamic media commentator.

To unwind, Vicky enjoys being near the water; either on her paddle board, whilst walking her dog beachside, or by planning and plotting how to transform more clients with her partner Mitchell over a fresh juice.

A message from Vicky:

In the ten years I have worked full-time in the fitness industry, I have worked with hundreds of clients from all over the world. I noticed something many had in common – even though they were exercising day in and day out, they were constantly suffering from injury after injury and becoming so fatigued and unwell. Something was missing; balance was missing.

There is nothing I do not love about the Real Fitness Training community, and the vibe we have created here. We wanted to create somewhere special and unique – where you were genuinely cared about, and you were looked after. We wanted to put the PERSONAL back into personal training.

Whether you’re training for a full ironman event, or wanting to lose weight for life, you deserve to feel comfortable and accepted. Here you will be.

Our concept combines yoga, strength and conditioning training, an emphasis on mindset, and education on nutrition.

Starting Real Fitness Training has been such a blessing as we promote a truly balanced, results-based approach. It’s sustainable and provides real long-term results. It teaches you how to live in this fast pace world, and how to make the most out of you!

I often think of what we do as play rather than a workout as it is so joyful, so I will see you at our playground – a playground that is there to support you to be your best self.

HOW TO EAT WITH AWARENESS πŸ€” Being aware and mo HOW TO EAT WITH AWARENESS πŸ€”

Being aware and more present with our daily nutrition seems to be less and less common. What are some ways we can become more aware of what we eat?

1. Set an intention. How do you want to feel at the end of the day? Tired and lethargic? Or strong & healthy? If the answer is strong & healthy than packaged foods and sugar aren’t going to get you there.

2. Track your food. In order to become more aware we need to understand the calories that are coming in. By tracking your food you can understand what your food is made up of in terms of nutrient value.

3. Where your focus goes your energy will flow. Focus on consuming less processed more whole foods. Less alcohol more water. Increase your protein intake and your sugar consumption will naturally drop off.

Combining these three things when deciding on meals for the day or week, writing a shopping list or when you are eating out with friends. These simple and very achievable guidelines will help you become more mindful and back on track after the festive season.

HOW TO STOP OVERCOMPLICATING YOUR NUTRITION With HOW TO STOP OVERCOMPLICATING YOUR NUTRITION

With the weight loss industry promoting new diets almost weekly that will shed fat, increase muscle mass, put you into ketosis, detox your organs, improve your physical performance and leave you feeling energised... But only if you exclude certain macronutrients, food groups or just eat meat and animal products only...?
It can be easy to see why people feel confused and lost when it comes to figuring out what they should eat. Today I am going to break it down into the 3 most important takeaways that will get you started on a healthy, balanced path:

1. Calories in VS calories out will always be top priority πŸ‰: if you eat more calories than you burn, your weight will increase and the inverse is true. Your goals will discern how much or how little you should be eating but by complying with your calorie limit, you will achieve the result you are after
2. Protein Protein Protein πŸ₯©: we talk about it all the time but it is seriously one of the most neglected macronutrients even though it provides the most benefit by far. Protein not only resynthesises muscle which promotes growth (therefore increasing our caloric demand meaning we can eat more) but it also increases satiety, meaning when you consume enough protein, you don’t feel as hungry for the snacks or sweets that will derail you long term
3. 80:20 RuleπŸ”: this one is my personal favourite and where most people get stuck. If eating 1 burger on a Saturday night with some friends is what helps you stick to your nutrition plan for the rest of the week, eat the burger. When we don’t allow ourselves to indulge in the things we love every now and then, we inevitably experience burnout and give up entirely. Just remember 80% whole food: 20% soul food.
