By simply reading Salts of the Earths’ Facebook page you can straight away see the numerous positive reviews on this very beneficial and natural health service. However, salt therapy, also known as “halotherapy” has been around for years. 150 years to be exact. So people may think it is a new and “alternate” health fad but I can assure you it is anything but that. Salt therapy itself is not an alternative therapy but a complementary one. Something that can be used in conjunction with other healthcare services. Co-owners Mitch & Vicky educate the team every week in order to grow and learn as personal trainers/health coaches. At Real Fitness we believe that knowledge is key, being an educational based studio we will learn and grow each week and a couple of weeks ago we were fortunate enough to be taken to ‘Salts of the Earth’ Dural for a team outing. The experience was something else. Replenishing, refreshing and very grounding for the team, we kicked back in recliner chairs that were surrounded by pink, himalayan salts. On the floors and even coming from the walls themselves. We were inhaling some very health benefiting particles.
So why are these salt rooms I speak of so beneficial to our health? Well I went back out to visit the team in Dural and learn more about the experience from owner, Robyn. Our conversation was insightful however while we were discussing the benefits of the salt rooms and her mission as a business owner I found myself nodding in congruency with what Robyn was saying. Both RFT and ‘Salts of the Earth’ have very similar values which set us up for a great interview.
Salt therapy is a natural and non-invasive therapy that can help relieve the symptoms of a wide range of respiratory and skin conditions. Ever wondered why you feel so refreshed and renewed after a day at the beach?. It is because salt is a natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antihistamine. So people suffering everything from asthma to eczema may experience significant and lasting symptom relief following regular salt therapy. The way these magic rooms work is a halogenerator grinds up pharmaceutical grade salt into minute particles that become airborne when dispensed into the room. The dry salt aerosol particles are then inhaled deep into the person’s lungs to help relieve inflammation and loosen congestion to allow easier and improved breathing. The salt particles can help to open up the airways, increase oxygen intake and cleanse the airways of smoke, dust, pollutants and other allergens. When the salt lands on the skin it can also help to relieve sore, flakey, red and irritated skin.
Robyn explain to me the benefits she has personally seen within her own health. Robyn is a fit and healthy lady who attends the gym on a weekly basis and when she told me it has increased and helped her maintain and improve her cardiovascular fitness, I was delighted. Salt therapy has helped Robyn improve her fitness levels, she can breathe easier and more efficiently through her training sessions. Well if that isn’t beneficial then I don’t know what is.
When it comes to seeing results whether it be in the gym or in the salt rooms, Robyn and I agreed on one thing. Consistency. It is like with anything in life, if you can maintain consistency than be prepared for some life changing results. Sounds over the top right? Wrong. If you can breathe better, feel better and you can visually see the effects whether it be clearer skin, less eczema or minimal to no redness on the skin this of course will be life changing, improving your day to day living which is what we all want to live a more optimal lifestyle. To be able to get the most out of every day because we feel 100%. Isn’t that living?
