For those of you who don’t know me my name is Belle and I have worked at Real Fitness Training for 10mths now and I have loved every minute of it. I moved down from Queensland (however I ‘am a Blue’s supporter do not fret) in pursuit of something more, to learn and grow as a personal trainer, to do more than just teach someone how to perform a lunge or count reps. I wanted something bigger, better and more holistic rather than mainstream. After what felt like a very short 7mths in Sydney I was fortunate enough to find Real Fitness Training and I haven’t looked back since.
They say school are the most important years of an individual’s life so sit up straight, take note and listen. Well I did…. in P.E or netball training or when it came to the sports carnival. I did my best at school and most definitely enjoyed the socialising side of things however the saying “When you do what you love you never have to work a day in your life!” which at school I could never understand until now. This rings true for me now at 27yrs of age and 10yrs out of school. Sadly I didn’t understand that saying until I changed from childcare into the health and fitness industry.
I came to Sydney with specific goals in mind and an open heart and I can honestly say I have learnt more in the last 10mths than I ever did in the 12yrs I spent at school. Not only has my knowledge and passion grown stronger for personal training in my time here at Real Fitness but my eye’s have been open up to so much more including nutrition but not only what to eat but when to eat it and how much, the focus on macros here is amazing to help with results and while we don’t focus on the scales in the bathroom we shift to the scales in the kitchen in order to re-correct the daily portion sizes. Whether we struggle with larger portion or even worse if we under eat and under nourish our bodies we can correct it. Yoga was neither in my vision nor my vocabulary of health and fitness before I started at RFT. I struggled in every class I went to and became really frustrated with myself for the sheer fact that I could not hold my own bodyweight (however I could perform a deadlift and squat until the cows come home) or the majority of the poses that the instructor was asking of me. This is where mindset came into play for me. Changing the way I talk to myself and the way I perceive myself was something I needed to work on and so I have and continue to do everyday. Don’t get me wrong I have not yet mastered it, it is most definitely an ongoing process. However if I ‘am more mindful with myself and continuing to work my positive mindset than in turn this will help me be a better human and help others that come into my life and seek help with their personal health and fitness goals. We talk to ourselves the most, so why not make it positive talk.
The changes within myself personally and as a trainer have been huge, just ask my family members. Things such as:
BEFORE
- Mood swings and sleeping difficulty (due to monkey mind)
- Lethargy
- Poor digestion/bloating
- Cardio overload
- Stiff/sore joints (early signs of arthritis in my right knee)
- Self doubt/anxiety
PRESENT
- A healthy sleep pattern (improved state of mind due to meditation and yoga)
- Increased energy levels due to improved nutrition and consistent training regime
- More strength based rather than cardio focused
- No more stiff joints (I use to wear a knee guard on my right knee, I threw it out due to regular strength training and good nutrition)
- No anxiety
- Healthier gut and zero bloating
- I’ve dropped 5.1% body fat
- Increased my deadlift, squat and bench press in total by 85%
- Most importantly I ‘am a happier human in general
I ‘am looking forward to continuing my time at Real Fitness Training as a personal trainer and growing and learning in order to help others become healthier and happier.
