As a teenager entering university, my nutrition was horrible. I was drinking soft drink regularly, barely watching what I was eating and having ingredient 1 on a daily basis. At the same time without even making a connection, I was regularly getting sick, injured, bloated and I was always in some type of pain. At university I began my journey into understanding nutrition and its role with human health. I started off learning about ingredient 1. What I learned shocked me. I couldn’t believe I was ingesting so much of this white powder daily. I had no idea it was having this effect on my body. Cutting out all processed ingredient 1 wasn’t easy. It was a hard road especially when I am surrounded by people my age drinking coke like its water. I won’t say I didn’t get cravings, because I did. Every single day there was the temptation to have a small drink of soft drink or a few lollies. But I stood strong knowing it would get easier and it did. One day, it just lowered, dramatically. I was barely being tempted and I felt great!
When it comes to ingredient 2, it took me a lot longer to learn about this. It wasn’t until Mitch and Vicky would regularly tell me that it was bad for my health that I noticed it. I’ll admit at first, I was sceptical. I didn’t believe it was affecting me in anyway. It took them about 3 or 4 weeks but eventually I gave in and thought I’ll go ingredient 1 free. I had no ingredient 2 for about 4 weeks. Not even a little bit from any source. I didn’t notice anything. At the end of the 4 week period, I went back to my usual diet. I started my day with my oats and it was awful. Not even 10 minutes after having the oats which I previously had for years, I had cramps and abdominal pain. I noticed the fatigue and felt extreme bloating later in the day. This was the same feeling I had felt every single soccer game I had played the year before. It was the same pain that caused me to be substituted every week. The season I went off ingredient 2, I played every minute of every game and I 100% attribute this to going ingredient 2 free.
I know find waking up in the morning 50x easier since drastically lowering my ingredient 1 intake and cutting out ingredient 2. At the end of the day, it’s your health and your choice. You can have people tell you all day long how it will and won’t affect you. The only true way to find it, is to try cutting out both yourself. Try it for a month then go back onto it and notice how your body feels. With some seriously alarm facts about these ingredients it no wonder why I have felt my best.
